Party

I'm having a party at the house on saturday, less than 15 people, and I'll clean up whatever mess is left behind by them. If you're in town, join the party. If not... ummm, sorry.

And I don't want to hear any objections either. Well, you can go ahead actually, you're paying rent too.

Arcade update

Brendan and I had a discussion, and the arcade is a very feasible idea.

I'll summarize what we came up with:

Parts list:
Computer
Monitor/TV screen
wood
arcade controls
some fancy "keyboard encoder"

Doable? Hell yes. Price? Roughly 300-400$, probably maybe.

So that leaves the question: who's interested? This is a big financial risk here and it would be cool to have some support for this project. If there's no interest, there might be point in doing it (haha, yeah right. I'll just have an arcade to play while you're cooking your frozen dinners and I'll laugh, laugh, LAUGH at you!!!) so let me know. Let us know, actually. Brendan seemed pretty keen on the idea.

Financial Opportunity

I was talking with my bro and a couple of his friends want to move in for the summer. I said I'd only charge them 100$ a month because they'll be out most of the time. I'm not sure whose room they'll be in (other than that I'm sure it's not mine). Any comments or ideas?

Big screen TV for cheaper than we thought...

Alright, using a 15" LCD, lenses, these plans, a halide bulb and a few other parts, we can make a kickass projector. Thoughts are appreciated. Brendan, I'm looking in your direction as I say this...

Entertainment idea

Would anyone support having an arcade in the house? I'm talking about a single cabinet with MAME running on it, two player support, not too expensive. Lemme know what you think because I am bored here.

And here's some links:

Ugly site

Now, a few things that should be discussed, just for fun:
o Controls - I'm thinking we go full blown arcade controls here. They aren't terribly expensive and they would make the machine absolutely amazing.

o Cabinet - No clue how I'm going to score one of these. Construction is an option of course.

o Computer - Yes, there's a computer at the heart of this thing. The computer would be astoundingly cheap, because asteroids, galaga, and space invaders didn't have gobs of RAM like computers nowadays do.

o Money - We could charge people for this if we wanted to.

o Badassedness - What other house has a fricking arcade in it.

Comments? You know the drill.

Transportation

How is everyone getting around town? The bus comes along Brock/Johnson, so we're covered in that regard, but there's other options too...

I'm using my bike and Malcolm's got a car. I'm just wondering what everyone will be using so we can figure out what kind of space we need for the devices.

New thinking approach

I was going to post this as a comment, but I feel that it warrants a full post.

People: nothing has to be sorted out. The house is yours as long as you pay your part of the bills. Everything else is small stuff that can be straightened out in mere minutes.

Me and Malcolm were talking and we (or at least I) feel that we need to sort out the big stuff first, such as how much money everyone pays. Really, that's the ONLY thing that is really important. The small stuff (chores, food sharing, bathroom usage, etc) is almost insignificant.

I guess what I'm saying is this: listen to me as I have experience living on my own. Don't make up your own problems because I know what problems have to be dealt with and what problems would be nice to solve but aren't necessary.

That being said, we did seem to skirt around the issues involving money. A few: internet choice (sympatico ultra high speed), fridges in rooms (I say no way in hell, but if you absolutely need 3 cold beers in your room, whatever), dryer usage (haha, yeah right), and cable (you want it? pay for it.). See, all the "problems" solved in one post.

I hate to say this, but the house needs some form of leadership. The bills are in my name, but that doesn't mean I should be that leader.

There. Done ranting for the night. Comments?

Stuff in the basement

I'm assuming this stuff is Amy's because no one else has claimed it. Essentially, this stuff HAS to be moved or else it will smell like shit when she moves in. If someone (that isn't me) could get hold of her and convey this information to her, I'm sure a satisfactory resolution will be reached.

Also, where are Megan and Amy on this blog? HUH?

Call to barry

Alright, I had a list compiled for all the things I noticed in the first month, and I just placed a call to barry to get them (hopefully) fixed. Just a little update.
