Big screen TV for cheaper than we thought...
Alright, using a 15" LCD, lenses, these plans, a halide bulb and a few other parts, we can make a kickass projector. Thoughts are appreciated. Brendan, I'm looking in your direction as I say this...

Didn't read the site, did you. It's a projector that we could use for a big screen TV. what house doesn't want a big screen tv?
hehe..wat are we gonna watch
i thought we weren't gonna have cable
and all movies will be d.led right?
All downloaded stuff, yeah. Or dvd or whatever.
You're absolutely right about what you said Brendan. Here's something that offputs the fact that a 400W bulb is needed (holy crap that's a lot): cost. A 40 dollar bulb in a 500$ (tops) system that uses X$ over the time we live here is nothing compared to the big screen TV that costs 1000+ and uses the same or more electricity. But I recall seeing on one of the sites I was looking at that it's possible to use optics (when isn't it possible to use optics somehow) to get an image on a wall that isn't too far away.
In either case, I'm sure one of us knows someone who knows someone etc who could get us a deal on the LCD. Lenses aren't that expensive, as aren't the rest of the components. The real killer would be the LCD, then the converter to get the signal to what we need. After that... it's gravy baby!
And the cost would be defrayed by the fact that there's 7 of us... or whoever wants to chip in. But imagine the look on everyone's faces...
